Vie and Vay is a private chef who will creates hand-prepared dishes to be served in your own home for celebrations, dinner parties or special events. The food photography brief was simple, to make the food look as delicious as it tastes for a new website that was launching in mid 2017. 

The shoot took place near Windsor in Vie & Vay’s kitchen, so space and light was always going to be tricky. However, by using the main window in the kitchen (and fortunately it was a cloudy day so I didn’t need to worry about harsh sun creating unflattering light) I was able to shoot the following photos. 

Prior to the shoot I had discussed with Vie and Vay the importance of sticking to the agreed shoot list and ensuring that we photographed the food as soon as it is ready….this is essential in food photography, because if food sits around too long it can quickly degrade i.e. sauces split, salad wilts, meat releases juices etc etc. Its this pre-planning organisation that allows us to be really efficient on the day and shoot the maximum amount of food possible
